Description
A rare antique Japanese late Meiji Era tripod and covered enamel copper censer koro. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The sphere form censer koro is enameled with polychrome enamel images of dragons made in the Cloisonne technique on red ground. Mounted on three sphere shaped legs. The cover is adorned with a polychrome image of a dragon surrounded by a geometrical motif on the red ground made in the Cloisonne technique, and a sphere shaped finial featuring a scaly ornament. The neck is decorated with polychrome floral and foliage patterns made in the same technique. The censer is adorned with a technique of using metal powders to give a glitter effect to the enamel.
