Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harrapan / Mohenjo-Daro, ca. 2300 to 1900 BCE. A hand-built pottery bowl, with vertical walls atop a squat foot, decorated with a program of black-painted, left-facing fish beneath a register of zigzagging stripes. Size: 3.5" L x 3.3" W x 2.5" H (8.9 cm x 8.4 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Professional repair and restoration to 2 areas of rim and upper body, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and fading to pigment, with scattered earthen deposits, otherwise in nice condition. Great remains of piscine motif across exterior.
