Domhnall O'Broin for Caithness, a Scottish Modernist glass Stroma decanter, circa 1965, slender conical form with cylindrical neck and pulled spout, the stopper of angled baluster beaker form, smoky teal green, 36cm high Note: contemporary with the Scandinavian designs of Kaj Franck and Timo Sarpaneva, Caithness, along with Dartington and Kings Lynn led the way for the British glass industry, in a move toward a more modern Mid Century design outlook, competing with and catering for the increasing demand for the ever popular imported glass from Finland, Denmark and Sweden.
