Item Details

Description

A folk art wooden walking stick with a dog’s head shaped handle carved by Wilfrid Richard (1894-1996) of Saint-Ubalde, Portneuf, Québec. The dog’s head and handle behind it are carved from a single piece of wood which was then affixed to stem of the cane. Carved eyes have painted black pupils, the ears, mouth and nose outlined in a red paint colour. Note loss to one ear. Circa 1970. Lenght, 35”.
