Description
Fabulous suit of armor with multi-plated helmet Kabuto signed Myochin Muneaki ( representative of id to late 1700's). The Myochin are one of the most famous producing groups in Japanese history. As was customary, older helmet bowls were preserved and remounted with later suits of armor. The chest protector Do is lacquered iron with some lacquered leather components. The face protector Menpo is lacquered as tetsu sabiji meant to simulate rusted iron. The neck protector Shikoro is hon-kozane style. The Dragon Maedate has glass eyes and is a least from the Meiji period. The suit comes with two armor boxes with lacquered leather covers displaying family crests. The suit is in nice condition. The lacing has been professionally replaced, which is very costly. A truly magnificent high grade example of Japanese armor. Very Good-Excellent
