Description
Large Triassic Sea Lily (crinoid) fossils, Encrinus lilliformis, Triassic Period, c. 240 - 230 million years ago, Muschelkalk Layer, Germany. This impressive, museum-grade specimen of two sea lilies is with incredible detail. Each is preserved in solid calcite with stunning detail and anatomy. The time consuming preparation work that went into this piece to remove all the rock between the arms and stem sections to the level that is seen yields a fascinating display example. Some fracture repair but no fabrication. 7 in x 3 2/3 in overall; the crinoids 5 ¾ in and 3 ¼ in. Ex German private collection.
