[LEUTZE, Emauel (1816-1868), artist]. The Horse Tamer; or, The Boy Ulysses S. Grant Teaching Dave to Pace. [New York: Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper, ca. 1880s]. Rare chromolithograph taken from the Supplement to No. 679 of the newspaper. Signed in-plate by engraver William Dickes (1815-1892). Approximately 25 ½ x 19”. Mounted onto a mat and framed under glass. Frame size approximately 31 ¾ x 25”. Sheet toned, soiled, edgeworn with some tears and chips. Very good. A rare and unusual depiction of Grant. Not examined out of frame. Most likely the only extant copy.
