Description
North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, Pre-Contact Period, ca. 16th to 18th century CE. Two thick discoidals that were hand-pecked and polished from a volcanic stone for use in a game known as "ulu maika." This rolling / throwing game was one of the most popular forms of entertainment, and in Hawaii and is often compared to modern day bowling. Size: 3" Diameter x 1.5" W (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
