A color photograph taken by Bill Wyman of famed author and civil rights activist James Baldwin, unsigned and unnumbered. This photo was included in an exhibition of Wyman's original work titled "Stone Alone In Saint-Paul" held at the Musee de Saint-Paul de Vence June 6 to September 30, 2010. An original exhibition brochure signed in black marker "Love / Bill Wyman" accompanies this lot.

The exhibition catalog states in part that, "To date Bill has taken over 20,000 images. The exhibition will feature 94 original images, mostly color and many previously unseen. Bill's photos catch his subjects in rare relaxed and unguarded moments." When the Rolling Stones retreated to the south of France in 1971 and recorded 'Exile On Main Street,' "Bill enjoyed wonderful times with many artists and writers at their homes and at La Columbia d'Or, including [Marc] Chagall, Arman, a playful Cesar [Baldaccini], and James Baldwin. He also formed long-lasting friendships with many of the other English musicians who settled in the South of France in later years."
