Description
An Olmec Seated Figure Las Bocas sub-group, Mexico, c. 1200-900 BC Solid earthenware with burnished beige slip on body, traces of red pigment on lips, sides of head, around waist, and on toes. Seated cross-legged, left hand on knee, right extended straight down to rest on ground next to leg. The head turned slightly to the right, with classic Olmec facial features. In very good condition; repaired break around neck, at both shoulders and wrists with restoration over the break lines.
