October Estate and Discovery Auction
We are proud to offer works from a number of small estates and collections, including from the Estate of Rosalyne Bernstein. Rosalyne and her husband Sumner were early nurturers and long-time benefactors of Portland?s now-burgeoning art scene. We offer the Bernstein collection in memory of Rosalyne and Sumner and their legacy.
In this October sale there is a little of something for everyone, with delightful works by artists well known and some not so known. This eclectic mix was thoughtfully brought together over the years with care by collectors and curators alike. In it, we are sure that there is a special piece that will catch your eye or call to you.
Be on notice, John Laurent?s works are on the rise and this is a great opportunity to pick up one of his nice and moderately-sized paintings at a great price. Standout pieces include works by William Zorach, Cabot Lyford, Waldo Pierce, Neil Welliver, Eric Hopkins and Al Chadbourn. Also featured in this sale is an exceptional painting by Jackson Lee Nesbitt, student of Thomas Hart Benton, titled ?Study for Old Man with Violin,? 1940.
