Visions of Ararat
The “Visions of Ararat” series is currently being auctioned by Pasadena Antique Warehouse. These oil-on-canvas paintings are created by 3 prominent artists living in Armenia. These artists include Shmavon Shmavonyan, Andre Shugarov, and Shahen Aslanyan. Each artist brings a different viewpoint of the sacred, holy mountain; some have views from the city, some are out in the countryside. Each artist painted the site during various seasons and times of day, using the hues, colors and textures that were exclusive to their own vision, rendering each painting unique and one-of-a-kind. The paintings depict Ararat/Masis in its lush region, shrouded in its natural surroundings.
This unique collection took three years to cultivate. The paintings are all in their natural condition but can be framed upon request. Ararat is a sacred location dating back to Biblical times, where Noah is said to have landed his arc. It has been depicted and painted by some of the most prominent artists in history. Ararat is typically shrouded in clouds and mist, thus making it rare to get a clear glimpse of the mountain longer than a few hours at a time. These artists have captured Ararat in its full beauty.
Proceeds from this auction go directly to the artists and non-profit organizations supporting wounded soldiers in Armenia via the Learning Mission and One Big Step foundation.
