The Estate of Dr. Robert A & Martha W Bradley
Dr. Bradley was a world-renowned obstetrician/gynecologist, a pioneer in what is commonly referred to as “Natural Childbirth”. He authored the book “Husband Coached Childbirth” which is currently being used in its fourth revised edition. He was widely respected for his work in the obstetrics field, which included bringing father’s and cameras into delivery rooms. His theories and practices were started in Denver in 1946 at Porter Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Bradley married Martha W. Lindemann in August of 1972. She was the curator of the oldest brick home in America, The Adam Thoroughgood House, where they met. The house was located in Virginia Beach, VA and administered by the Norfolk Museum of Art. For Christmas in 1974, Dr. Bradley presented his beloved Martha with the mansion that he had purchased in 1962. Their home was renamed “Valleau Manor” in honor of his Martha’s middle name.
After they settled into “Valleau Manor”, Dr. and Mrs. Bradley discovered their common love of shopping for antiques to furnish their home.
