Ketchum, Jr. Also highlighted in this sale is The Intuit Benefit Auction. Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art is delighted to be the beneficiary of the Slotin Folk Art Auction and for the donated works of art from our many friends. Proceeds will go to support Intuit’s educational programs and exhibitions. Other featured works are from The Clay Morrison Estate to Benefit The School of Art Institute of Chicago. Clay Morrison (1948-2007), artist, collector, and a founding member of Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art. Morrison studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in the 1970s, where he was steeped in the practice of collecting folk, self-taught, and popular art, that was encouraged by a few SAIC faculty at the time. He helped lay the groundwork for what is now a world-renown center of study in the genre of outsider art (Intuit). He quietly and powerfully affected the Chicago art community for many years including bringing the Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations to Chicago. Proceeds from the sale of objects from his collection will go into a scholarship in his name at SAIC (School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
