Description
Disneyland Santa Fe Train Tickets and Circle Route Brochures Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1955). The notion to build a railroad attraction predates Disneyland itself, as Walt had been fascinated by trains from a very young age. In this lot is one full set of first-class tickets for the Santa Fe and Disneyland Rail Road and two souvenir pocket brochures. The tickets from the opening season of Disneyland include passes for all six stops in the park including Holidayland which ultimately gave way to New Orleans Square in 1961. They measure 11.5" x 2.5" and are folded in the center. With them are a pair of 3" x 5" folded railroad brochures for the New Circle Route around Disneyland. The first is printed in grayscale and is the earliest version of the two and may date to the opening week of the park. It includes maps, photos, and information on both the Disneyland and Santa Fe trains and routes. The second brochure is similar to the first with the exception of 2-color printing and some design element changes. Both fully unfold to reveal a 10" x 12" map of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe routes throughout the US. This is a remarkably rare collection of items from the very ride that inspired Disneyland and was perhaps more near and dear to Walt's heart than any other. Minor handling overall and condition is Very Good.
