Thomas Hooker (1586-1647) was an early English settler of New England, serving as the first minister in Cambridge, MA before helping to found the Connecticut Colony in 1636. In 1639, he helped draft the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, a pioneering democratic constitution. The present theological work contains 3 parts, of which only the second, "The Soules Benefit from Union with Christ," has its own title page. Sabin 32850.
