Description
A rare German horizontal table clock of hexagonal form, circa early 18th century, having an ornately-decorated case and fusee movement, on animal-form feet. Signed. 2-1/2in tall x 5-1/4in wide. Movement not examined or tested. Peter Krenckel was born in 1687 in Hattnau. He worked as assistant to Wilhelm Köberle in Eichstätt and married Köberle's daughter in 1714. Krenckel died in 1730. Provenance: From the collection of a direct descendant of Thomas Alexander Scott (Pennsylvania, 1823-1881).
Condition
Lacking two feet. Lacking bell. One glass pane missing. Tarnish and wear.
