One of the most famous awe-inspiring sights in Paris is the PLACE de la CONCORDE. The largest square in la Ville-Lumiere, a venue of major historic proportion. Through the magic of LeRoy Neiman's illuminating brush strokes, the viewer is transported to the glorious scene of the chic Paris Square that implodes in a glistening celebration of color and light both day and night.
In the late 1830's this bronze fountain was installed in the center of the PLACE de la CONCORDE. The detail of the magnificent sculpture instantly invites us to come closer and transports us to a world of powerful sculpted gods and breathtaking goddesses.
From Neiman's vantage point the fountain offers a dazzling display of sunlight dancing off the water, a kaleidoscopic burst of sparkling blues, yellows, reds, pinks and greens. In the background, looking past the ancient towering Egyptian obelisk, we are confronted by the famed "Hotel Crillon" nestled to the left of the "Church of the Madeleine" at the end of Rue Royale. The parade of the Garde de la Republique is captured proudly circling around the PLACE de la CONCORDE in a hypnotizing rhythm of military precision.
