Description
Featured in this lot is a Northern Plains Indians rawhide warrior drum, circa 1890. The drum itself is a constructed wooden frame with wetted and stretched Buffalo hide over both sides, secured with thick hide lacing. The drum shows yellow ochre paint that is faded and shows the original collector’s name on the inside of the drum. The condition of this drum is fair, with a hole in the stretched rawhide and a patina consistent with the age of the drum. The measurements of this drum are 16" x 15 1/2 x 3".
