Fritz Scholder was one of the first artists invited to collaborate with the Tamarind Institute's lithography workshop after they opened at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque; his 'Indians Forever' suite was the first major Tamarind project. Ultimately, Scholder worked with the studio for 14 years, producing hundreds of prints between 1970 and 1984.

Scholder's work in lithography allowed him to experiment more freely with color, texture, and composition by infusing Pop sensibilities into his usual themes of stereotypes and the morbid. It also afforded him a way to create an active conversation between his new work and his previous paintings; in many cases elaborating upon or reworking previous subjects to evoke something new. The paper with deckled edges; title and introduction page with some wear and bending to the deckling. The eight lithographs not examined out of the frames. Introduction page with a crease running along the entire left edge and another crease running approximately a third of the way of the right upper edge with an approximately 3in long fold on the upper right corner. 'Indian with Feather:' an approximately 2in-long light crease in the extreme left edge of the upper left corner and an approximately 1/4in-long tear with corresponding crease on the left center edge. 'Kachina Dancers,' with wear and bending to the deckled edges along top and botom edges with more creasing along the extreme lower edge. 'Indian with Pigeon' and 'Indians with Umbrellas:' light creasing along the extreme upper and lower deckled edges. 'Indian at the Bar:' light creasing along the extreme upper and lower deckled edges and a light 1in vertical crease in the upper left corner. 'Waiting Indian:' an approximately 10in-long crease running from the upper left corner downward along the left edge, a similar 5in-long crease running up from the lower left, and a 1/2in long diagonal crease in the upper right corner. 'Buffalo Dancer:' with creasing to the deckling, a light 5in crease along the left edge in the upper left corner, creases to the extreme upper and lower left corners, and an approximately 3in long crease along the lower edge in the right corner. 'Indian at the Circus:' an approximately 2in-long handling crease in the upper center edge, light creasing along the upper left corner edge (extending downward about 8in), more very light creasing along the center left edge, and two small rips on the right edge, the longer about 1/2in.
