PCGS Gem New-65 Continental Congress “Fugio” Note
Continental Congress. February 17, 1776. Two Thirds of a Dollar. Plate “A”. “Fugio” Design. PCGS graded Gem New-65.
Fr. CC-22. This is a gorgeous Gem quality note that has excellent sharp eye appeal. The face and back motifs created by Franklin in his maxim theme of TIME FLYS - SO MIND TO YOUR BUSINESS. This famous design was also used by the Continental Congress on the 1776 dated CONTINENTAL DOLLAR. The face has a sundial and “Fugio” motifs, the emblem to the left side on this denomination. The back design shows an interlocked chain of Thirteen Links, representing the original 13 colonies, surrounding the legend “WE ARE ONE.” This is the highest denomination from the four note fractional Continental Dollar portion of this February 17, 1776 series. This exceptional Gem has full clear margins on all four sides, and the back is both boldly printed and perfectly centered. Boldly signed in deep rich red by Robert Tuckniss. Imprint of printer “Hall and Sellers.” A top quality “Fugio” type note from this historic Continental Congress issue.
