Description

“The Adventures of Telemachus” is a famous French novel by Fenelon; a story that was intended to be a supplement to Homer’s ‘Odyssey’ following the travels of Telemachus, son of Ulysses. It was highly controversial upon its release, as the majority of French readership took Fenelon’s story as a critical and satirical portrayal of Louis XIV.
This fine 1792 English edition of ‘Telemachus’ was published in London and translated by Francis Fitzgerald (i.e. Charles Taylor). It should be noted that this beautiful, one-volume edition includes 25 impressive engravings.
