Description
This American 18th-century needlework picture features a biblical scene of Jewish interest. In the image, (from the Book of Exodus), Moses is being discovered and pulled from the bulrushes or reeds of the Nile, by the Egyptian Pharaoh's daughter and her female bathing attendants. The imagery is intricately embroidered and the faces are painted. There are 2 smallish splits to the canvas along the top portion. The work is under back-painted glass, in a gessoed period frame. Including the frame, it measures 23" high x 23" wide.
