Description

"Exodus of Confederates from Atlanta" original antique hand-colored wood engraving from the "Harper's History of Great Rebellion" (1866) with picture matte included. Surrender of Atlanta by Confederate took place on September 2, 1864. A week after taking the city, General Sherman ordered the expulsion of civilians from Atlanta. After that he ordered to burn the city.

Original page from the Harper's History of Great Rebellion. The wood engraving is 13" x 8.1/2" [33cm x 21.6cm]; the picture mate is 16" x 12" [406cm x 30.5cm]; very good condition.
