Description
This trench-art knife speaks volumes. The core of the knife appears to be a Ka-Bar but all marker's marks have been removed or hidden by the guard. 13 1/4 in. overall length with a 6 7/8 in. blade. The guard is heavy brass that has been repurposed from heavy ordinance and the handle is a large bone over a tang with a screw mount at the pommel. The end cap is a Japanese screaming mortar igniter complete with Japanese proofing marks. This places the origin at Iwo Jima Island where the Japanese used this specific mortar to inflict fear upon incoming US Marines. Probably built aboard ship from salvaged parts. With leather sheath. Please see photos for details. Date: Country (if not USA): State: City: Provenance:
