Description
One 1945 fifty pesos gold coin featuring on the obverse the Winged Victory or Angel of Independence surrounded by "50 PESOS 37.5 Gr ORO PURO 1891-1945" and the reverse with the golden eagle of the Mexican coat of arms encircled by "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Graded by NGC as MS64 indicating an average or better strike with several obvious marks and other miniscule imperfections, but otherwise in mint condition.
Designed by Emilio del Moral. This coin is also known as the gold Centenarios and was first issued by the Mexican Mint in 1921 to celebrate 100 years of independence from Spanish colonial rule. They were first issued regularly from 1921-1931 with production beginning again in 1943.
