Born July 19, 1893 in New York City, he studied at the Cooper Union in New York and the Chicago Art Institute. He lived in Dallas, Texas for a number of years before coming to Chicago in 1924 after winning a nation-wide contest for portraits of the late Calvin Coolidge and Charles G. Dawes, for the Republican National Committee.In 1928 he was commissioned to make the official portraits of Ex-President Hoover and Vice-President Curtis for the same purpose. Also painted the portrait of the late Julius Rosenwald for the Museum of Science and Industry of which he was the founder, and has portrayed many prominent persons of Chicago and of other cities.He spent some time abroad painting characters and types in Paris, Munich and Florence. He exhibited at the Art Institute, All-Illinois Society of the Fine Arts and many local exhibitions.
