Description
Portrait of an American Indian Woman adorned in Buckskin, Beadwork and Turquoise jewelry. The teepees at rear indicate the Plains-people origin of the sitter. The painting is oil on artist board and is signed Nancy Kasten at the lower right. Presented in quality wormy chestnut frame. Kasten (American, 20th/21st century) is associated with California. She studied art at Chaffey College, was past president of the Associated Artists of the Inland Empire, is an art educator and is associated with the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association of California. We believe that the painting here is an earlier example of her work, as it appears circa 1970. Image measures 15” x 11” with framed dimensions 24 ½” x 20 ¾”.
