Sadegh Tabrizi
.(From Meem Gallery website):A pioneer of Iranian modern art, Sadegh Tabrizis work is characterised by his use of traditional Iranian forms and motifs including calligraphy, architectural elements, metal work, talismanic shirts, coffee house murals, Persian miniatures and Qajar painting. After studying miniature painting at secondary school, Tabrizi worked in the ceramic workshop of the Administrative Office of Fine Arts. Graduating from the newly formed College of Decorative Arts in, he continued his studies with an MA in interior design. As a member of the neo-traditional Saqqakhaneh movement, Tabrizis work exemplifies the neo-approach that the movement became known for. Experimenting with a diverse array of media including parchment and mirror mosaic, the artist was also known for his large public commissions. The work of Sadegh Tabrizis has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Iran and internationally and the artists works are held in the collections of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Tehran; Grey Art Gallery, New York and Henan Museum, Zhengzhou.
