Description
Very nice sixth plate tintype of an armed Union soldier and his wife. The soldier is armed with a sword and appears to be wearing an artillery shell jacket. His wife stands beside him with her arm resting on his shoulder. Of interest is a small slip of paper found behind the image that reads, “Grandma & Grandpa Dousland (?), Dad’s grandparents.” We have not been able to locate this soldier. More research is likely to pin him down. The image itself is in good condition, with some moderate solarization around the subjects. Housed in a full leatherette case.
