A rare original photograph taken by John Swartz gallery, located at 705 1/2 Main in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 21, 1900, mounted and bearing Swartzs original embossed seal with logo, SWARTZ and FORT WORTH, TEX. at the lower left. This photograph was acquired by the Pinkertons to assist in hunting down the members of the Wild Bunch. Inked numbers on the surface of the photograph and gang members names believed to have been penned on the reverse by Pinkertons detectives. Includes a notarized letter of authenticity from the owners estate and supporting data as shown. C. 1900. Age and weathering to the cardboard backing consistent with its use in the field and two later spots where tape has been removed, the photograph itself in almost pristine condition. Photograph 20.6cm in length, 16.5cm in height, cardboard mounting 22.8cm in length, 19cm in height. The robbery of the First national Bank, Winnemucca, Nevada Bank, was one of the gang’s most successful robberies and among their final acts as a group. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid later escaped to South America, where they continued their criminal activities.
