AN INDIAN MIXED METAL BOX AND COVER, 18th - 19th CENTURY
India, the box dating to the 18th - 19th century or even earlier, the cast figurines appear to be later additions. Of tubular shape with domed cover, the box decorated with eight cast figurines of female beauties, beaded frames, floral decorations, and cabochon glass inlays imitating ruby, consisting of silver, copper and white metal.

Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
Condition: Good condition, traces of wear, dents, surface scratches.
