A South West View of the City of New York in North America [WITH] A South East View of the City of New York in North America.

14 1/4" x 21" visible, 22 3/4" x 29 1/4" framed.
A pair of the most important and attractive views of Colonial-era New York City. The South West scene is taken from the southern slope of Mount Pitt, which is near the intersection of today's Henry and Montgomery Streets on the lower east side of Manhattan. The South East scene is taken from near today's corner of Varick and Beach Streets in lower Manhattan. The main building shown is Kings College, now known as Columbia University. Drawn on the spot by Capt. Thomas Howdell, of the Royal Artillery. Engraved by P. Canot.
