He has continuously studied Nature's manipulation of the elements in the landscape. He studied art three years at Studio Galleries under Don Magid; also with Laura Yates Burnett, Walter McCown, Walter Hart and at McLennan Community College, all in Waco, Texas. He also studied under Harold Roney of San Antonio, Texas. Paul Spoonts was a member of the International Society of Artists, Texas Fine Arts Association and the Bell Chapter of TFAA. Spoonts made his home in McGregor, Texas with his wife Mary and painted full time. Spoonts' landscapes have recently attracted the attention of Texans who recognize the sincerity and deep feeling portrayed in his painting of bluebonnets, the State flower, in the landscape. His paintings have been in numerous exhibitions including Laguna Gloria Museum in Austin, Texas. He has won awards in Texas and Oklahoma. The artist's paintings hang in collections in private collections from coast to coast and in many Texas homes and businesses.
