Rare Collection of (11) Stamps Produced by the Confederate States of America
Stamps, ranging in size from .75" x .875" to .875" x 1.125", Ca. 1861-1865, n.p. A group of 2, 5, 10, and 20 cent Civil War era stamps from the CSA. Depicts such figures as Jefferson Davis, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Andrew Jackson. During its four year existence, the Confederate States of America were faced with the task of providing their own postage stamps and mail services to its citizens. In total, there were nine basic types of stamps that were produced, with the first being put in circulation on October 16, 1861. Postmarks present to some, with minor soiling and uneven edges to others. Overall very fine condition.
