[AUTOGRAPH ALBUM] A 1950s autograph album with signatures collected by New York Times Education Editor Benjamin Fine for his daughter, including Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, Jackie Robinson and many others.
A 1950s faux-alligator autograph album with signatures, clipped items and inscriptions to about 50 leaves with some items laid-in. 5 x 6 1/2 inches (13 x 17 cm). The leaves detaching from binding, some handling wear, tape stains, etc., but well preserved overall; Together with a photograph depicting Einstein in his Princeton office. An 8 x 10 inch vintage press print with slug to verso reporting that the picture shows Einstein, Fine and Yeshiva University officials "arranging for the naming of Albert Einstein College of Medicine." The original negatives of the photograph included in the lot.

A fine autograph album carried by Education Editor Benjamin Fine in order to gather autographs for his young daughter Carla. Benjamin Fine (1905-1975) worked at the The New York Times from 1938 to 1958 and had great access to a diverse group of notables who signed this keepsake, including in this order: Eleanor Roosevelt (5 being 2 clipped signatures and 3 short typed notes), John Dewey, Albert Einstein (clipped signature from a letter signed "A. Einstein"), Henry Morgenthau Jr., Jacob Javits, Anna M. Rosenberg, Adlai Stevenson, Fanny Hurst, Dwight Eisenhower (laid in note on Columbia stationery), Agnes de Mille, Herbert Lehman, Carl Sandburg, Franklin Roosevelt Jr., Robert Wagner, John F. Kennedy ( 5 line inscription as Senator), Louis Armstrong, Daisy Bates, Jackie Robinson (inscription on clipped stationery from Grossinger's), Harry Belafonte, Nelson Rockefeller, John Gunther, Harry Truman (typed letters signed dated 1960), and finally that of the book's recipient Carla Fine, aged 5 years. A charming keepsake from the beat of a New York Times reporter in the 1950s.
