Description
A-22 Allgemeine SS peaked cap of SS-Standartenfuhrer Dr. Rudolf Jacobsen. Fine black doeskin type material with a black velvet band with white piping. Nice shaped peak. Darkened patina on the eagle/swastika and the totenkopf (skull) insignia with some traces of frosted silver. The silver bullion chincord shows small areas of wear and hints of powdering - also has left a surface age indentation at the top of the black vulcan visor (not visible without lifting the chincord). "RZM-SS" black ink stamp under visor. Tan leather sweatband shows some wear. "RZM-TUCHMUTZE SS-SS" oilcloth label. Yellow-gold silk lining. Printed label "Jacobsen Rudolf - SS - Nr. 79517 - Dachau" under the clear moisture shield.(Rudolf Jacobsen served as an Infantry officer in WWI. He joined the SS and the NSDAP in 1933. He served in various administrative posts, was an instructor in racial and political matters and served with the Army during the Polish Campaign. On 1 March 1940 Jacobsen was appointed Commander of the SS-Totenkopf Division stationed at Dachau. At the same time he was a member of the Race and Settlement Department of the SS High Command and the SS Reserve, went on to command the SS-Totenkopf NCO School at Breslau-Lublinintz, commanded SS-Standarte "Nordland", was promoted to the SS-Hauptamt and served as Commander of Ausbildungslager Sennheim. He was the recipient of the SS Honor Sword and Ring.) Rare. II
