Item Details
Description
The Edison doll came with either a Simon & Halbig 719 bisque head or in this case the Bahr & Proschild 224 glass eyed open mouth bisque head with painted wood and composition limbs. The formed tin torso houses an original Edison talking mechanism lacking wax cylinder. Due to complexity of operation and manufacture they were a commercial failure and such dolls with original mechanisms are extremely scarce - in 2008 an example with a reproduction mechanism sold for $4,000 at auction.
