Battle Club, Kanak People, New Caledonia, Melanesia, 19th-Early 20th C. Often referred to as phallic clubs. This example with chip decorations beneath head and slight serpentine curve to shaft that ends with traditional raised cylinder section. Indigenous tool marks are apparent in the aged surface. From the collection of Joseph Salamanca. Size: 32'' x 2'' (81 x 5 cm).
