Description
Émile Louis Picault (French, 1833-1915), artist of the École des Beaux-Artsbronze, sculpture Pegasus 1888 from the Greek myth of Perseus and the slaying of the Gorgon Medusa. Perseus is shown after the slaying of Medusa with her head, Hades’ Helm of Darkness, and Athena’s shield. The bronze is signed “E. Picault” and “Salon Des Beaux Arts 1888”. The foundry mark is Connection Francaise/Made in USA" and has a brass placard on its base. The bronze measures approximately 21 inches high, 15 inches wide, and 7.5 inches. Statue is in excellent condition.
