Offset-printed one-sheet poster. 68.6x104.2 cm (27x41"); with date strip: 91.5x104.2 cm (36x41"); backed in linen: 102x115 cm (40¼x45¼").
Includes date strip advertising for June 16 at Plainville Stadium in Plainville, CT. A triumphant return of the Ringling Brothers to Connecticut with a fire-resistant canvas tent. The Big Top had burnt to the ground in Hartford in 1945 killing 167 people with more than 700 injured.
With Bill Bailey's signature in plate. Bailey was one of the few Barnum & Bailey artists to take credit for his work. Billers, Banners & Bombast, pp. 36-7.
Condition
Light wear with a few tears repaired in backing, a few minor chips to footer, a few minor abrasions; very good or better.
