Important speech by the youngest elected member of the National Convention; Saint-Just argues for the need to open the trial against Louis XVI, who "doit régner ou mourir". Two months later, on January 21, 1793, Louis XVI will be guillotined.

Passionate speech by the Deputy of the Seine: after having listed the crimes of the King, Manuel asks the National Convention "the greatest power in the world", not to sentence Louis XVI to death, since "une Nation n'est pas cruelle comme un roi" . Finally, he warns not to pronounce a sentence "qui consommera la revolution": "Un roi mort n’est pas un homme de moins".
