Description
HOMANN, Johann Baptist. Theoria Planetarum Primariorum.Noribergae, 1729Incisione in coloritura coeva, 500x590 mm.
Condition
Engraving in contemporary coloring, 500x590 mm. Good conditions, little spots, two little tears on the white top margin.Nice plate showing the planetary motions according to Copernicus and Kepler, who both shared heliocentric theories of the solar system. Unlike Copernicus, who believed that planets had circular orbits, Kepler theorized that planets had elliptical orbits. Kepler also theorized that were was a strong relationship between geometry and cosmology.
