Lefaucheux model 1858 Marine revolver, converted from pinfire to center fire ignition. Very few of these navy issue pieces survive, especially the center fire upgrades. This revolver sold at Cowans Auction out of the Ben Michel collection of French arms for $2,880.00 in 2015. I don’t mean a gun like this one.... I mean THIS GUN, serial 822, brought $2,880.00 at the November 2015 Cowan auction. The buyer got into financial trouble and sold much of his collection at fire sale prices. It is 100% original, 100%.complete, and needs an internal repair as it will not cock nor index. The frame screws are buggered. Metal is very nice steel-grey patina. Grips are VG++. As I recall, these revolvers were retrofitted and issued to French sailors around 1866. A solid and scarce example of a rare variant of the Lefaucheux. 12mm.
