Description
In large binder, including 13 war-dated letters, a small archive regarding a deceased union soldier, Thomas Wildly, comprising 3 letters to his family, a condolence letter to his family upon his death from his commanding officer, Capt. Lucius Sherman Larrabee (who subsequently died at Gettysburg), and another to his family from the regiment pastor, additional Wildly documents include his burial location notice, bounty documents, his mothers claim, the return of his personal effects and more, several unrelated letters, many with typed or handwritten full or partial transcriptions, some with written content narratives or comments, several with patriotic letterhead, together with a Jefferson Davis ink signed 3.5x2in. card, a civil war group photo, a plantation photo ( taped tear across top), several civil war sketches signed AEM dated 1862, a large handwritten 1862 'Muster Out Roll' for the Massachusetts 36th Regiment, Company C Volunteers of Captain John Fairbanks, a Lincoln photo, General Grants 'Grand March' sheet music, a Certificate of Marriage, etc.

The letters in varying sizes, some in multiple pages, varied subject matter, binder measures 15x12.5in. in generally good condition with expected wear and varying degrees of issues given age and use.

Provenance: Part of a civil war collection of a Sullivan County, NY gentleman 90 years young. The collection spans 50 years and was acquired from shows, dealers and private collections throughout the east coast and midwest.
