Ancient Egyptian alabaster head canopic from a canopic jar, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, Size 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 in (9.8 x 7 cm). + Stand. Carved Alabaster Canopic jar lid, representing the human-headed canopic deity Imsety, which was one of the 'Sons of Horus' that protected parts of the deceased, Imsety protected the liver. The facial features are preserved with good style, the wig wide at base to fit the width of the jar it originally sat atop. Light deposits and mounted on antique wood base. Provenance: Private California collection acquired from Ancient resource, Ex Seattle private collection.
