Hacquet (c. 1739-1815) was a surgeon in the mining town of Idrija and professor of anatomy and surgery in Ljubljana. Under the protection of Maria Theresa and Joseph II, he travelled around the Austrian Empire and was the first explorer of the Julian Alps.
