An antique German Meissen porcelain figural group representing an allegory of visual arts. The group depicts two cupids painting a seascape. Designed by Johann Joachim Kandler, 1706 to 1775. Johann Joachim Kandler was a German sculptor who became the most important modeler of the Meissen porcelain manufactory, and arguably of all European porcelain. He worked at Meissen for over 40 years. Stamped with a crossed swords mark in underglaze blue, impressed 143, incised D462. Circa 1850 to 1924.
