A PAIR OF QING DYNASTY FAMILLE ROSE "BIRD AND INSECT" TURQUOISE GROUND PLANTERS, CHINESE, 19TH CENTURY, hand-molded rims roll over a pink "earth and sky" geometric band above a quatrefoil lattice in green and yellow pinned by rouge lotus blooms with expanding tendrils over a body of slightly compressed tapered form painted with centra arabesque reserves of auspicious avian landscapes surrounded by a Persian blue turquoise ground with cherry blossoms, wilting peonies, chrysanthemums, and carnations, foot unmarked. Height: 15 1/2" Diameter: 18" Provenance: Collection of Hubert Hudson, Texas Senator 1957-1963, Brownsville, Texas.
Condition
Minor soiling, kiln frits, surface wear, stains, and minor losses to enamel and scratches. No apparent repairs.
