Imported U.S. Model 1840 Cavalry Saber and Scabbard,
R. Rohrig & Company, Solingen, mid-19th century.
Brass hilt, the counter guard with two branches and knuckle bow connecting to the pommel, brown leather covered grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, one narrow and one wide fuller, the back of the blade stamped 'R&C' with leather washer at top of blade; iron scabbard with two suspension rings.

Condition
Hilt toned to deep yellow/brown, leather grip has minor abrasions and related surface losses; blade is bright with scattered light gray mottling and blade edge has several small nicks and evidence of old honing; scabbard is toned dark brown and has several scattered small shallow dents.
